As the XperiDo and Xpertdoc products continue to integrate into one complete platform for the generation of better documents, faster, we are rebranding some of the former XperiDo product components and features – see our blog post “Xpertdoc Smart Flows 2018 Release Preview Guide“. The XperiDo Template Design add-in for Microsoft Word has been renamed Xpertdoc Template Builder. It provides an amazing template design experience, with no code/low code required.
What’s New in the Xpertdoc Template Builder?
Apart from the new name and some refreshed icons to reflect the change, the Xpertdoc Template Builder has a list of new features that will further improve the design experience.
1. Find, Edit, Preview, Save and Publish Templates
The Xpertdoc Template Builder lets you navigate through your templates faster. You can simply search for templates or sort them alphabetically or by latest modification date/time. There’s a convenient language drop-down to select the language variant you want to edit.
When editing templates, you can now save them locally and use the local file to preview what you’re designing – rather than the version on the server. If you like what you previewed, you can publish your template to the Xpertdoc Smart Flows server. You don’t like it? Just keep building locally until you nailed it.
2. Multiple Data Sets and Pseudo Relations
One of the most powerful new features in Xpertdoc Smart Flows for Dynamics 365 is the ability to combine multiple data sets from different sources across and beyond Microsoft Dynamics 365 into the same template. You can combine data from one or more Dynamics 365 data sets (even starting from a different primary entity) with user input and/or data that is collected via RESTful web services from other applications. All the connected data sets surface in the mapping pane of the Xpertdoc Template Builder so you can easily map away.
3. Your Sample Data Just Got Better
You don’t want to waste any more time updating your samples to reflect changes you made in the corresponding test records in Microsoft Dynamics 365, so we keep the link between the record and the sample alive. If you make changes to the record, the sample automatically updates as well. If you don’t want that, you can make a local copy of your sample as a sort of snapshot.
You can also create samples for data sets that collect user input during flow execution – they used to be called dynamic fields, but are now renamed custom data sets or Xpertdoc Smart Flows data sets – making it very easy to test different user input scenarios while building your templates.
4. Other Improvements
Other improvements to the Xpertdoc Template Builder include:
- better asset management experience;
- searchable lists for countries and currencies; and
- better guidance when creating a new template.
We are superexcited to introduce the Xpertdoc Template Builder as part of the Xpertdoc Smart Flows for Microsoft Dynamics 365. Make sure to get in touch if you want to take it for a spin prior to general availability.
